The Australian Defence College Preparatory English Language Course (APELC) is part of the main suite of English Language courses at DITC.
The course aims to prepare Defence Cooperation Program (DCP) personnel linguistically, culturally, and academically to participate in training at the Australian Defence College (ADC) and on the subsequent ADC-Prep course.
The course is designed to provide approved overseas students with a non-enrolled stream entry waiver to training at ADC, Weston Creek in Canberra.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to develop:
An improved level of overall proficiency in the English language
Academic study skills
An awareness of Australian academic conventions for tertiary-level studies.
Prerequisites
Students are expected to have already been approved to study on the ADC Prep Course. They may not have met the IELTS entry scores needed.
Audience
International military personnel.
Graduates from the course will attend the Australian Command and Staff Course (ACSC) or the Defence and Strategic Studies Course (DSSC) at ADC.
Students are expected to attend the Reception Period (RP) course before, and the 5-week ADC Preparation Course (ADC PREP) immediately after the APELC.
