Intermediate Australian English Language Course (IAELC)
Overview
The Intermediate Australian English Language Course (IAELC) is part of the main suite of English Language courses at DITC.
The 11-week course aims to prepare international military personnel linguistically, culturally, and academically for their participation in training or employment.
The major focus of this course is to improve reading, writing, listening, and speaking proficiency in a general and military context.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to develop English language outcomes that:
Demonstrate a variety of English speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills commensurate with achieving ADFELPS level 6.
Prerequisites
A minimum Australian Defence Force English Language Profiling System (ADFELPS) levels S5, L5, R5, W5. Candidates for the course who do not meet this entry level must request a waiver from the Head of Section.
Completion of the Reception Period (RP) course.
Audience
International military personnel.
Defence Co-operation Program nominees who wish to enhance their current level of English.
